50th Reunion

Thursday October 9, 2014 – 10th Meeting

Minutes

The 10th AND FINAL 50TH Reunion Committee meeting was held on Thursday October 9, 2014 at the Silver Spring Mining Company in Hunt Valley. Those in attendance included; Richards Steinbock, Ed Fishel, Cathy Johnson, Don Hands, Dennis Colson and Rick Webb.

Items discussed, decisions made at this, the final 50th Committee meeting were:

Event Review

FRIDAY

Friday Golf – three foursomes and two were the women.

Participants enjoyed their golf

Friday Night at Matthews – crowed, hard to order food but

Successful and enjoyed. 80 plus attended

Friday Night Football – only three attended but the Comets won so

the 1964 Comets are 1-0.

SATURDAY

School Tour – about 39 attended and all enjoyed seeing the changes

Rolling Road Golf Club – WOW, all enjoyed food, music, location,

etc. Should have had more action pics taken. 140 plus

attended

SUNDAY

Brunch – all enjoyed the good time together. 35 attended

Other Items

Cost – two of the events where at the participants own expense.

Saturday night was concerned by some to be a little high, BUT

it left our Treasury in good position for the 55th Reunion.

Reunion Books – just the right number. Give out about 115

Pictures – great that everyone can go on line and print out

whatever pics they want without additional cost. Great and

successful effort to id all participants in the pics. Names will

appear with the pics.

Treasury – closing balance, prior to last committee meeting (only

one that the cost was picked up by the Treasury as a “thank you” to the working committee) and future expenses, was

$4,662.20.

55th Reunion

  • Date to continue to be in the September 2019 time frame

  • First meeting to be in the October 2018 time frame

  • General age of class will be 72-73

  • Will arrange for professional photographer for all activities

  • Will have multiple activities to include at participants expense and one event to be charged.

  • Open to any and all suggestions.

The Committee (not Buddy Dean’s) recognized that there were many involved that made this successful. “THANKS” go out to all without even beginning to try and recognize individuals. There was only one disappointing feeling . . . . .we wished all that could have attended would have attended. Those that were unable . . . .for whatever reason . . . .WERE MISSED!

Respectfully submitted,

Richard (Rick) Webb

Post Script: We have contracted to maintain the website and will continue to

to contact Classmates at least annually. The emphasis will

be for all to update us on contact information and activities . . . .

good and bad. So continue to pass along any and all information

you might have on fellow classmates.

Classmates,

We had a wonderful reunion. The city of Baltimore put on quite a fireworks show in our honor, we had a nice happy hour - or four - at Matthews on Friday night, and a fabulous buffet at Rolling Road Golf Club on Saturday. Today wraps up the festivities with a brunch at Dmitri's.

Thanks to all of you who attended. To those of you who couldn't make it, keep us in mind for our 55 year reunion in 2019. You don't know how much fun you're missing, hanging out with a bunch of old fogies.

Sadly, knee surgery earlier in the week prevented the driving force behind the reunion, Ed Fishel, from attending. Needless to say, none of this would have happened without his beyond-the-call-of -duty efforts. We gave him a well deserved standing ovation in abstentia.

Lastly, in one of the wholesale rearrangements of the reunion book entries, I lost David Terry's post somewhere in my files. It got taken off one page but never made it to the new page. My humblest apologies to David. His entry is below for those of you who want to print out and add it to your book. [not included on public web site by webmaster Nils]

The committee will be meeting one last time to wrap up the reunion and we'll be back in touch. Meanwhile, don't be strangers and keep us posted if you move.

All the best,
Steiny
